Michelin vs Bridgestone Tyres in Dubai: Which Should You Choose in 2026?
Quick Answer

Michelin and Bridgestone are both premium brands and cost about the same in Dubai: roughly AED 700–2,500+ per tyre, depending on size and model. Choose Michelin if long tread life and a quiet, comfortable ride matter most. Choose Bridgestone if you need a run-flat, an exact factory-fit (OE) replacement, or a strong wet-weather touring tyre. For most cars, the right model in the right size matters more than the brand name.

⚡ Key Takeaways

  • Price is rarely the deciding factor. In the same size, Michelin and Bridgestone usually sit in the same premium price band.
  • Michelin says its newest comfort tyre, the Primacy 5, lasts 18% longer than the model it replaced.
  • Bridgestone's Turanza 6 scored best for wet cornering and lateral aquaplaning in a TÜV SÜD test that Bridgestone commissioned.
  • Both brands make run-flats: Michelin marks them ZP, Bridgestone marks them RFT or DriveGuard.
  • Always compare the exact model, size, load index, speed rating and DOT date, not just the brand.

How much do Michelin and Bridgestone tyres cost in Dubai?

Both brands sit in the premium tier. These are indicative Dubai prices per tyre in November 2026, including VAT:

Tyre size (typical car) Premium price per tyre (AED)
205/55 R16 (compact sedan)700–1,200
225/45 R17 (mid-size sedan)900–1,800
235/55 R19 (mid-size SUV)1,200–2,300
265/45 R21 (luxury SUV)1,500–2,500+

Within one size, the gap between Michelin and Bridgestone is usually smaller than the gap between two models from the same brand. A performance tyre such as a Pilot Sport or Potenza costs more than a touring Primacy or Turanza. Run-flat and OE-marked versions also cost more.

Which lasts longer: Michelin or Bridgestone?

Michelin's whole brand is built on longevity. Its latest touring tyre, the Primacy 5, launched in the Middle East and Africa in May 2025. Michelin says it lasts 18% longer than the Primacy 4+, which it puts at about 7,000 km of extra driving (Michelin Primacy 5 regional launch).

Bridgestone's touring tyres also wear well. Its newest generation uses a technology package called ENLITEN, which Bridgestone says improves mileage over the previous model.

In Dubai, how you look after a tyre often matters more than the brand. Heat, under-inflation and poor alignment wear tyres out faster than anything printed on the sidewall. Our guide to how long tyres last in a Dubai summer explains why.

Which has better wet grip?

UAE rain is rare but often heavy, so wet braking matters more than many drivers expect.

  • Bridgestone Turanza 6: In a test by TÜV SÜD (commissioned by Bridgestone), the Turanza 6 scored best for wet cornering grip and lateral aquaplaning. A Continental tyre stopped slightly shorter in straight-line wet braking: 33.0 m against the Turanza 6's 33.7 m from 80 to 20 km/h (Bridgestone press release).
  • Michelin Primacy 5: Michelin says its grooves are 10% deeper than before, and that its EverGrip design keeps wet braking strong as the tyre wears. That second point matters because most tyres lose wet grip as their tread wears down.

Bottom line: both brands' current touring tyres are strong in the wet. If your car runs on worn tyres of either brand, replacing them helps far more than switching brands.

Michelin vs Bridgestone for SUVs and 4x4s

  • Road-focused SUVs (Lexus RX, BMW X5, Range Rover Sport, for example): Michelin's Pilot Sport SUV and Primacy SUV ranges, or Bridgestone's Alenza range. Both are built for quiet, high-speed highway driving.
  • Large 4x4s used on and off road (Nissan Patrol, Toyota Land Cruiser, for example): Bridgestone's Dueler range covers many popular UAE 4x4 sizes. Michelin's LTX range is a strong highway-terrain option.
  • Desert driving: A road tyre that suits highway use is not ideal on sand. Read our desert driving tyre pressure guide before you deflate.

Run-flats: Michelin ZP vs Bridgestone RFT

Many BMW, MINI and some Mercedes-Benz models leave the factory on run-flat tyres.

How to compare quotes like-for-like

  1. Same size and specification. Check the full code, for example 225/45 R17 94W. Our tyre size and DOT code guide explains every part.
  2. Same load index and speed rating, or higher. Never go lower than your car requires.
  3. Same OE marking where your car needs one: ★ (BMW), MO (Mercedes-Benz), AO (Audi), N0–N2 (Porsche).
  4. A recent DOT date. UAE tyres expire five years after manufacture. See our tyre expiry guide.
  5. Performance grades, where shown. The UAE's standards body introduced ratings for wet grip and rolling resistance (Gulf News). Where a tyre shows these grades, use them to compare.
  6. What's included. Fitting, balancing, new valves, old-tyre disposal and VAT.
